Why join the Osgood PTO?
There are several reasons to join PTO. You may find yourself asking, What is PTO, and the answer is simple: PTO is a formal group of parents and teachers that volunteer their time for the benefit of the students, staff and school as a whole. Being active in your child’s elementary school can be seen as critical to their success and besides, it’s a great way to stay involved during the school year! What we do – provide two book fairs twice a year, provide meals to teachers during conferences, organize a Santa event and buy presents for each teacher/classroom, organize student and family night events, sponsor speakers/shows for students to enjoy, organizes the yearbook, sponsors field trips, provide money for staff and students needs as requested, and much, much more. Fund Drives – PTO members coordinate one main fundraiser at the beginning of the year. We also organize two book fairs at the school during conference time. Throughout the year, we have continual fundraising opportunities by collecting Box Tops for Educations, Campbell’s Soup Labels, Cashwise Receipt points, and Sunny Delight lids. All of the money raised goes towards enhancing the school resources for students, events throughout the year, and the needs of our great teachers/staff and students. Staying Informed - The parent group is often very involved at making sure that all parents stay informed on school issues that are important to the students, teachers, and school. At meetings, we are able to hear from the principal, teachers, and even school board members throughout the year. Flexibility – All parents and teachers are welcome to come to the PTO meetings. If you can’t join us at the set meeting dates, you can always help out by volunteering for an event or contacting the PTO through our email and getting on or email list. Relationships - Joining PTO is another way to get to know your child's teacher better and some of the staff that your child interacts with on a daily basis. Attending meetings and volunteering at the school gives you time to interact and develop relationships with the individuals that are educating your child.
